Rovigo Cello City 2024 – 11th Edition

11th edition for the festival considered among the most important Italian cello events.

On Sunday 1 September, in the splendid setting of the Temple of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso known as “la Rotonda”, the curtain rises on the 11th edition of the festival, born in 2014 by Luigi Puxeddu, with the aim of enhancing the excellence of Rovigo cello school founded by Luca Simoncini.
The Festival wellcomes, every year in Rovigo, some of the best internationally renowned performers who not only perform, but also hold masterclasses open to students of the F. Venezze Music Conservatory. A magical combination of culture and musical training that allows many young talents to participate in lessons, but also to “make music” together with the great soloists.

For the third consecutive year, the Artistic Direction bears the signature of Gerardo Felisatti, pianist, master collaborator and conductor with an international career.

Of note within this year’s program is the opening, Sunday 1 September, with the young and very famous French cellist Edgar Moreau (winner of the Rostropovich and Tchaikovsky competitions) accompanied by the Italian Philharmonic Soloists and the cellist Enrico Bronzi (renowned cellist international and conductor, founder of the Trio di Parma) in concert with Francesca Sperandeo on Thursday 5 September. The protagonist of the final evening, Sunday 8 September, is Luigi Piovano, first cellist of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra and conductor.

Like other important cultural events in the city, the festival also becomes an opportunity to discover the symbolic places of Rovigo which also become spaces for music: Temple of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso known as “La Rotonda, Church of Christ, foyer of the Teatro Sociale , in addition to the “Tamburini” Auditorium of the Conservatory, the Church of Sant’Agostino and the Episcopal Seminary, in a mix of art, music, tourism, culture and promotion of the territory.

The event is organized by the Venezze Association, in collaboration with the F. Venezze State Music Conservatory, with the support of the Cariparo Foundation and the Banca del Monte di Rovigo Foundation, with the patronage of the Municipality of Rovigo and the contribution of ASM SET.
Technical partner for the promotion of the festival of the city of Rovigo within the “Terre fra Adige-Po” Area Brand is Rovigo Convention & Visitors Bureau.
