Giacomo Matteotti (1885-2024). An history for everyone

On the centenary of Giacomo Matteotti’s death, Polesine, a land that saw him grow as a person and as a politician, remembers him with a splendid educational exhibition at Palazzo Roncale, in the historic center of Rovigo, which recalls his activity as a public administrator in several municipalities of the province his commitment to trade union activity and his parliamentary activity, an irreducible opponent of fascism and finally secretary. of the Socialist Unity Party. Furthermore, the exhibition also delves into Matteotti’s private life, his readings, his personal and family passion for music, the fundamental relationship with his wife Velia and his family.

Fondazione Cariparo has also promoted a careful reorganization of the “Giacomo Matteotti House Museum”, a national monument since 2017 in the beautiful village of Fratta Polesine, his birthplace and the place that preserves his mortal remains.

The double visit will allow not only to reconstruct the story, through images and rare documents, of Matteotti’s human and political story, but also a precious opportunity to discover or better know the many peculiarities of the “Lands between Adige-Po”.
